The Burbank Park District, established first as the Stickney Township Park District in 1955, and incorporated as the Burbank Park District in 1970,  has been a cornerstone of community recreation and wellness in Burbank, Illinois. Over the decades, it has expanded its facilities and programs to meet the evolving needs of residents. A significant milestone was the opening of the Fusion Recplex on September 7, 2013. This state-of-the-art facility, funded in part by a grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources’ Parks and Recreation Facility Construction Grant Program, serves as the district’s administrative hub and offers a wide range of amenities.  The Fusion Recplex has become a central gathering place, enhancing the quality of life for Burbank residents and surrounding communities.
 
The Burbank Park District offers a variety of parks and outdoor spaces designed to enhance community life and promote well-being. The 12 Park District parks provide residents with opportunities for relaxation, recreation, and social interaction.  In addition to the Fusion Recplex, the Park District also features the Newcastle Recreation Center and Newcastle Park, with exciting programs such as the Dance Revolution and dog classes, and the Burbank Water Park, a seasonal summertime favorite of local residents. These parks and facilities play a vital role in fostering a sense of community by providing spaces for physical activities, family outings, and social events.  They contribute to the overall quality of life in Burbank by promoting health, wellness, and community engagement, and providing over 200 jobs in the Burbank community. 
Key Facilities and Their Features: 

Fusion Recplex  The Fusion Recplex was built in coordination with a grant from the State of Illinois “Parks and Recreation Facility Construction Grant Program Illinois Department of Natural Resources”. It was completed and opened on September 7th, 2013. The facility serves Burbank residents and the surrounding communities. It has become the home for the Burbank Park Districts Administration offices, as well as a number of its programs. The addition of the Fusion Recplex has allowed the Park District to improve the quality of its programs and has aided in the revamping of its own infrastructure. Five additional Full-time staff members were added to help run the Fusion Recplex as well as help to better serve the Burbank residents. The park district also took this opportunity to update its IT components providing a faster, easier way to give access to its services to the public.

Among its many amenities, the Fusion Recplex has a full-sized basketball court that can be used for volleyball, indoor floor sports, and rented out for a variety of other uses, such as birthday party bouncy houses and lazer tag!

The building boasts a 4,000+ square foot fitness center, 1/16 mile walking track, locker rooms with showers and steam rooms, two 1,000 square foot multipurpose rooms, a 2,000 square foot aerobics room that doubles as a rentable space and a kid’s zone. The facility has eighteen 32” flat screen TVs mounted around the building as well as free Wi-Fi. The Fusion Recplex sells yearly memberships as well as day passes for anyone that wants to enjoy its classes and fitness center. The facility is located 6100 W. 85th St. and is built next to the Burbank Water Park, which is open seasonally.

Newcastle Recreation Spanning 16.2 acres, Newcastle Park is equipped with five softball/baseball fields, basketball courts, soccer and football fields, a playground, and Recreation Center with programming and two 2,000-square-foot rooms available for rent. 

Gazebo Sites The District maintains five gazebo locations at Owens, Stevenson, Fitzgerald, Harr, and Nottingham Parks, which are available for rent and serve as charming venues for gatherings and events.
